[Volleyball] Baker Falls to (RV) Evangel In Four Sets

Springfield, Mo. – The Baker volleyball team drops their second straight match after losing in four sets to (RV) Evangel, 24-26, 22-25, 30-28, 22-25.

The Wildcats played the Crusaders tough. In the first set, Baker went point for point the entire game and got to a late lead, 24-21. To end the first set, Evangel went on a 5-0 run to win, 26-24.

The second set included major runs by both teams. Baker went on a 6-0 run to take an early lead, 15-11. Evangel immediately answered with a 10-1 run of their own to get back to the lead, 21-16. The Wildcats fought back but the Crusaders got the set two win, 25-22.

The third set was Baker’s highest scoring set of the season, as both teams went back and forth until the Wildcats earned their 30th point to win, 30-28.

Evangel settled the match as the took the fourth and final set, 25-22. On Wednesday night the Baker attack was led by Makaila Garcia with 12 kills, followed by Taylor Bell with 11 kills. Skyler Bruck led the Wildcats in assist with 23.

The Cats’ are now 9-13 on the season and are back in action Tuesday, October 1st as they take on Benedictine at 7:00 p.m. in Atchison, KS.
