ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Capping off their non-conference schedule, the Baker men’s basketball team fell to Harris-Stowe on Tuesday evening by a score of 81-77.
Both Brandon Clifford and Xavier Elam each scored 15 points on the night, while Brett Elifritz added 11 points, while pulling down six rebounds. Aaron Nancarrow led the team on the night with 10 rebounds, in just 15 minutes of play.
Harris-Stowe was able to get the early lead but was never able to pull away throughout the first half. With 11:39 left in the first half a basket by Charles Fisher gave Baker their first lead of the game, 23-22. The Wildcats would extend their lead to seven points over the next three minutes, but Harris-Stowe then went on a 10-0 run to regain the lead, 33-31.
Baker would tie the game at 41, but a three pointer with 45 seconds left in the half gave Harris-Stowe a 44-41 lead heading into halftime.
Just five minutes into the second half, Harris-Stowe pushed their lead to 11 points, but Baker quickly got back in the game cutting the lead to just four with 11:14 to play. Harris-Stowe would once again extend their lead to double digits, but Baker would not go down without a fight.
The Wildcats would cut the lead to four, three separate times, but Harris-Stowe would eventually go on to win the game, 81-77.
